Bromyard Community Hospital's garden has undergone a much needed facelift.

Weeds have been cleared, overgrown shrubs and trees pruned and uneven paving slabs replaced in the grounds of the hospital, which specialises in respite and rehabilitation.

It is now able to offer patients and visitors access to three easily accessible external areas, including a courtyard, a green space near the car park and a conservatory.

The transformation was achieved after a green-fingered team of contractors from Countrywide Ground Maintenance in Bromyard donated their services to restore the outdoor spaces to their former glory.

"As soon as we heard that Bromyard Community Hospital was looking to revamp their gardens, we jumped at the chance to offer our services free of charge," said Countrywide Herefordshire Regional Director Sam Jenkins.

"Not only is the hospital located near our depot, but I have fond memories of my time working on the wards prior to Countrywide.

"We will be returning in the spring to help plant shrubs and flowers, which are being bought by the hospital's League of Friends."

Sandra Mahner, Sister at Bromyard Community Hospital added: "We were so thrilled that Countrywide, through Sam Jenkins, took us under their wing to clear the very untidy garden areas at the hospital.

"They worked extremely hard and conscientiously to create a blank canvas which will allow us to prepare outside spaces that patients and relatives can enjoy.

"Many relatives have made monetary contributions to provide shrubs, plants and ornaments in the spring, and we will have an open day to celebrate this on completion."
