Malvern archer Vicky Jenkins will make her Paralympic debut at Rio 2016.

The British Paralympic Association confirmed an application to the International Federation for Archery for a bipartite place for Jenkins was successful.

As a result, she will become the 11th athlete selected for the sport in Brazil and is to shoot in the W1 compound competition.

Jenkins, 39, only started competing in archery in 2010 and she has progressed quickly through the ranks to win a 2014 European Championship silver medal in the individual W1 competition.

The Bromyard Bowmen member said: "I'm very proud to have been chosen for the bipartite place and to represent my country.

"I would like to thank everyone who has supported me on my journey and helped me to achieve this.

"I'm looking forward to experiencing my first Paralympic Games in Rio and competing at the highest level of my sport."

Penny Briscoe MBE, Chef de Mission for Paralympics GB, said: "Vicky has shown fantastic progress over the last few years and I am very pleased she will be joining the rest of the archery team at the Paralympic Games.

"This squad has been incredibly competitive and she only narrowly missed out on the first round of selection and this successful bipartite application is a recognition of her development.

"I wish her the best of luck in these final days of preparation before flying to Rio with the rest of the team.
